Where to list and promote your Nottingham business

Make your Nottingham business easier to understand and contact, with a complete local profile and relevant support for getting started.

Lead with the service and the real location

A customer should be able to tell quickly whether you offer the service they need and whether the location works for them. Explain the difference between a Nottingham city-centre shop, a studio in Arnold and a mobile business covering several nearby communities.

Do not use a wide service area as a substitute for a truthful base. If customers cannot visit your office or workshop without an appointment, say so clearly.

Prepare a complete local listing

Nottingham Directory accepts free Standard listing submissions for review. Check for an existing profile first, then provide your trading name, website, published phone, accurate location and an original description of the main services. Choose a category and tags that match work you actually offer.

Provide an email you can receive listing-management messages at. Add a clear image or logo you have permission to use, and avoid a description dominated by unsupported awards, repeated place names or prices that will soon expire.

Use other profiles where they fit

Google Business Profile has eligibility and verification rules, including requirements about customer contact, addresses and service areas. Check those rules before creating a profile; an online marketplace and a staffed shop do not necessarily qualify in the same way.

Keep your name, phone and website consistent across your own site and relevant local listings. Choose platforms your customers use, then maintain the details rather than creating a large set of abandoned profiles.

Make use of Nottingham business resources

The Business & IP Centre Nottinghamshire, delivered through the library service, provides a local starting point for business information and support. Nottingham City Council also publishes business-support and finance information; check current programmes and eligibility directly.

Review your directory entry when your service, address or contact details change. A maintained profile can help customers decide whether to enquire, but listing inclusion and paid upgrades cannot guarantee search positions or new business.
