Check the council boundary first
Nottingham City Council handles local-authority services within the city, including waste collection, council tax and planning. Nottinghamshire County Council and the surrounding district or borough councils have different responsibilities outside that boundary.
Use a property’s precise address to find the right service. Nearby West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold and Hucknall should not automatically be treated as Nottingham city addresses for reporting a council issue.
Use current library information
Nottingham Central Library and the city’s neighbourhood libraries offer different facilities and activities. Check the library service’s own page for the building you need, including current opening arrangements and any temporary notices.
A scheduled activity can have a separate booking process from borrowing books or using general facilities. Contact the library about membership, computer access and any support needed for your visit.
Find a group at the right level
Community centres such as The Vine, arts organisations and sports groups provide opportunities to meet people and take part in local life. Ask about the age range, cost and arrangements for a first session.
Our directory includes commercial venues as well as charities and community organisations. A listing does not establish that a session is council-funded, free or open without booking; confirm the current terms with the organiser.
Use the appropriate health or urgent contact
For an immediate emergency, call 999. NHS 111 provides a route to urgent medical advice when the problem is not life-threatening; use the official NHS service for current guidance.
For routine care, contact a practitioner directly about appointments and eligibility. This directory does not monitor emergency reports. If a business’s published contact or location needs correcting, send the details through our contact page for review.
